Falconry Adventure Day
Truly the ultimate outdoor adventure. This full action packed day takes place out in the countryside with the morning being spent getting to know the birds. The afternoon is spent out on the farm with a team of harris hawks who show their natural capabilities while popping down to you for the occasional titbit.
What You Get From the Experience
Your morning session will begin with an introduction to Falconry and then you will go straight to mastering the techniques of handling South American Harris Hawks, Falcons and Owls. After a woodland lunch you'll head out to the fields. In summer you'll take a team of Harris hawks and they will display their aerial skill following you, coming to your fist for treats and chasing any quarry they see. During the hunting season, (October to March, rabbits; October - January pheasant), a full hunt will ensue taking dogs & ferrets to work with the birds as you pursue rabbits and pheasant.
Fully trained instructors will be on hand throughout the day to ensure you are completely involved in the hunt, providing you with information on both the flora and fauna together with other wildlife which will be seen.
Availability
The Falconry Adventure Day is available all year round depending upon conditions.
Weather
The Falconry Adventure Day is dependent upon the weather. You should make sure that you call the The Falconry Centre on the day before and on the day of course to make sure that the weather makes the day possible.
Duration
7 hours starting at 10am or 9.30am in the winter. Lunch in the woods.
Clothing / Equipment
The Falconry Centre will provide all the equipment and safety gear required for the activity. You should however bring warm clothing and stout boots.
Restrictions
Children must be over 8 years old and any children under 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult (family, friend or spectator).
